How to Wash Garments With Glitter DTF Transfers

The glitter is embedded into the print, so it will not wash out under normal care. To help keep the finish looking sharp:

Wash garments inside out in cold or warm water
Avoid bleach and harsh detergents
Tumble dry on low or hang dry, since high heat over time can affect the finish
Do not iron directly over the print
Store unused transfers flat in a cool, dry place

With correct application and normal care, these transfers hold up through regular washing without fading or losing sparkle.

Preparing Your File in Canva

If you are designing in Canva, export your file as a PNG with a transparent background at actual print size (22" wide, 300 DPI, RGB color mode). Glitter DTF works best with clean edges and solid shapes rather than fine gradients. Designs with strong contrast usually come out sharper. If your artwork includes very thin lines or very small text, it is a good idea to test press it on a sample piece first.

Position:

Place the transfer glitter-side up on the garment. Use a platen to raise the print area away from seams and collars — this gives you even pressure across the full design.

Press & Peel

Set your heat press to 300°F (149°C) and Press for 10–12 seconds, let it cool completely, then peel gently for a clean, crisp finish.

Final press:

Cover with parchment paper and press 5 more seconds to lock in the finish.

What Makes Glitter DTF Different From Regular DTF Transfers?

With regular DTF, you get a full-color print with a matte or satin finish. With glitter DTF, those same colors are embedded with reflective particles — not sprinkled on top, but fused into the film itself during production. That is why the sparkle does not flake off after a few washes. It is part of the print, not a coating sitting over it.

Another important difference is the peel. Regular DTF is typically hot peel, which means you press and peel right away. Glitter DTF is cold peel, so you need to let it cool down completely before removing the film. If you peel it while it is still warm, the adhesive has not fully bonded and the glitter may not hold properly to the fabric. Let it cool fully, and the transfer locks in the way it should.

It is also important to know that glitter covers the entire design evenly. It cannot be applied only to selected areas of the artwork. If you want sparkle on one part of the design and a smooth finish on another, you would need two separate transfers pressed in layers — with glitter always applied last.
